By / 10 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Scheduled to start first deliveries in December, the new Jetta – which made its debut at the New York Auto Show in April – features a revised front, with an updated radiator grille with three horizontal fins, and a reprofiled bumper beneath.

At the rear there’s new tail lights and a revised bumper as well as a more aerodynamic boot lid – as a result of all the changes, the new model features an overall improvement in aerodynamics of 10%

Inside, there’s revised instruments, a new design of steering wheel, a variety of new trims around the centre console and new fabric designs for the seats and door trims.

Three trim levels are available: S, SE and GT. Standard equipment includes DAB digital radio, ESC electronic stability control, electric windows and air conditioning.

SE trim adds to the list with 16-inch alloy wheels, lumbar support, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, MDI multi-device interface and cruise control.

Top-of-the-range GT trim adds features including 15mm lower sports suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, front sports seats, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heat-insulating tinted rear glass, a colour multifunction trip computer, driver alert system and ambient interior lighting.

Engine line-up comprises four EU 6-compliant units, all with BlueMotion Technology modifications, including stop/start and battery energy recuperation.  Petrols comprise a 123bhp 1.4-litre TSI unit with a six-speed manual gearbox plus a 148bhp 1.4-litre TSI with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox. The diesels start with a 108bhp 2.0-litre TDI with a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox – emissions for the manual model are 105g/km with official combined fuel economy of 70.6mpg with 109g/km and 67.3mpg for the DSG. There’s also a higher-powered version of the unit offering 148bhp with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox.

Prices start at £18,815 for the 1.4-litre 125 PS TSI 6-speed manual in S trim and rise to £24,715 for the 2.0-litre 150 PS TDI 6-speed DSG in GT trim.
