Experian reveals best-selling used cars of 2010

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The firm analysed sales data from last year and found that although overall volumes were lower than in 2009, a deceleration in sales of over 13,000 used Vauxhall Corsas – the front runner in 2009 – left the Fiesta in pole position.

The only other change to the Top 10 was the Renault Clio, which moved ahead of the Ford Mondeo to take seventh place.

Joe Myers, automotive general manager at Experian, said: 'Experian’s analysis shows that affordable smaller vehicles continue to be the most appealing to motorists shopping in the used car market. The success of the supermini segment can be put down to increased consumer interest at the value end of the market and greater demand for more fuel efficient vehicles over recent years.'

Experian also analysed the data for each segment to find the best-selling models. The Fiesta topped the supermini segment, while the Vauxhall Astra took the number one slot for lower-medium models.

In the upper-medium segment, the BMW 3 Series came first, while the Mercedes C-Class was the top executive model and the BMW 7 Series was number one for luxury cars.

The dual-purpose/4×4 sector was led by the Land Rover Freelander, while the Vauxhall Zafira was the best-selling used MPV.

The Mazda MX-5 outsold the Audi TT to become 2010’s best selling used sports car; while Toyota’s Prius was the best-selling duel fuel model, capturing more than half (55%) of hybrid sales.
