Europcar Mobility Group UK ties up with Synetiq for greener fleet

Europcar Mobility Group UK has renewed its partnership with salvage and green parts provider Synetiq, enabling more sustainable motoring.

Synetiq has supplied Europcar with 1,145 ‘green’ parts in the last year, producing a carbon saving of over 43,000kg

The new three-year contract will see parts from damaged vehicles in the Europcar UK fleet continue to be passed to Synetiq for use in repairs in other Europcar vehicles. Using high-quality, safety-checked green parts, rather than new parts, will help reduce downtime while also cutting CO2.

In the last year, Synetiq has supplied Europcar with 1,145 ‘green’ parts, producing a carbon saving of over 43,000kg.

Europcar’s vehicles have played a massive role in the decarbonisation of the supply chain as a whole; Synetiq sold a total of 1,356 green parts on Europcar’s behalf in 2021, which equates to over 63,000kg carbon savings.

The work supports Europcar’s objectives to deliver sustainable motoring solutions. The group’s ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme sets out plans to reduce carbon emissions for its car and van fleet and targets to have ‘green’ vehicles (sub-50g/km) account for 20% of its car and van fleet by the end of 2024.

Europcar’s commitment to carbon reduction also covers all key processes in the business, and the use of green parts plays a crucial role in supporting that approach.

Ron Santiago, managing director, Europcar Mobility Group UK, said the partnership delivers important advantages for the business and its customers.

“We are constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint and are very aware that our customers are keen to do the same. We have been working with Synetiq for the past five years and the continuation of the relationship, following an extensive tender process, speaks volumes about the significant advances we have already made together to operate a greener fleet, while maintaining vehicle safety and decreasing vehicle downtime.”

Tom Rumboll, CEO at Synetiq, added: “Green parts provide a more sustainable motoring solution, not only in helping to reduce carbon emissions but also by presenting additional operational advantages such as reducing vehicle downtime and associated costs, as well as helping businesses mitigate against the current supply challenges. We’re excited to see further carbon savings as we continue together on our joint sustainability journey.”
