Energy Saving Trust reveals finalists for 2015 Fleet Hero Awards

This year’s event marks the 10th annual awards and will once again showcase organisations, suppliers and manufacturers that have successfully reduced fuel bills fuel bills and lowered their emissions and carbon footprint through better transport policies and improved fleet efficiency.

The winners will be announced on the evening of 26 November at the London Transport Museum, with the event to be hosted by BBC Watchdog motoring reporter Ginny Buckley and presided over by Transport Minister Andrew Jones MP.

This year’s event will also mark the launch of a new Air Quality award, which has been created to highlight the range of initiatives that are being spearheaded by local authorities across the UK to tackle air quality.

Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, said: “Air pollution is a real and present danger to our health yet despite this, the UK’s understanding of this issue is limited and there is confusion about which vehicles are appropriate for different types of journeys. We think it’s right that public sector bodies working to improve air quality should be rewarded.”

Transport Minister Andrew Jones MP added: “I congratulate the UK businesses and organisations who have led the way in running cost-effective green fleets and have been nominated for a Fleet Hero Award this year. The Government is determined to support a reduction in transport emissions which is why we are investing £500m to increase uptake of low emission vehicles over the next five years. We will continue to work with industry partners to achieve our goal of making all cars and vans emission-free by 2050.”
