The upgrades are said to be based on the experience Peugeot has gained launching its three HYbrid4 models, and comprises new software for the electric motors which optimises the power use and energy recovery for the batteries. These are said to be most beneficial during urban driving.

As a result, all 3008 HYbrid4 models will come in at under 100g/km CO2. Trim levels fitted with the 16-inch alloy wheels and low rolling resistance tyres will achieve 80.7mpg and 91g/km, instead of 74.4mpg and 99g/km for the outgoing version. Vehicles with standard tyres or larger wheels return 74.3mpg and 99g/km, against 70.6mpg and 104g/km for the models they replace.

The changes come in with all 3008 HYbrid4 models sold from this month, and makes the entire range congestion charge exempt in the UK. Models with the low rolling resistance tyres will also come into the newly introduced 10% BiK banding for cars emitting between 75-94g/km, which is due to be introduced next April. 

Upgrades are likely to be rolled out across the 508 HYbrid4 and RXH in the near future, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
