Driving Monitor to run mock trial of grey fleet driver
Held in conjunction with Shoosmiths solicitors, the free event takes place at this year's Safety & Health Expo at the ExCeL in London on 21-22 June, and focuses on the prosecution of a company with a grey fleet driver, involved in a serious road accident whilst driving on business.
The live sessions feature a company manager being questioned, a cross-examination and a barrister running through the case, as it would be handled in court.
Kevin Curtis, director of Driving Monitor, commented: “We find in most cases when speaking with new customers that the driver policy for managing grey fleet drivers is dealt with differently than say company car drivers. This mock trial gives a real insight into the actual best practices a company needs to follow and what check and measures need to be in place to ensure they cover their Duty of Care.”
The firm added with more and more companies opting to give cash allowances to employees, there's a greater trend towards grey fleets and its sessions aim to clear up some of the confusion around what responsibilities fall on the employer, and what the employee must do.
