Don’t leave yourself open to uninsured drivers

The vast majority of employees will not tell their bosses if they receive points on their licence – leaving companies exposed to potential risks such as being uninsured in the event of an accident.

Chevin will perform compulsory driver licence checks on all Fleet Show visitors.

A recent study found that 98% of drivers wouldn’t tell their employer if they received penalty points while driving – a move that could result in employees driving for business while being banned.

To counter this, fleet and asset management software provider Chevin Fleet Solutions will be demonstrating its own real-time automated driver licence checking service at Fleet Show 2017.

The online service that seamlessly links with the DVLA’s database, automating operational licence checks for a range of personnel – including commercial vehicle operators, company car drivers, grey fleet employees and even their spouses.

“This enterprise-level solution streamlines the process involved in ensuring drivers are legally entitled to operate an organisation’s vehicles and helps to provide a complete auditable trail of driver licence status, endorsements, vehicle types and more,” explains David Gladding, global sales and marketing director at Chevin.

“The service significantly reduces the administration burdens involved in licence checking and helps fleets reinforce a comprehensive road safety policy and ensure duty of care compliance is met.”

The product is available as a standalone system or as a fully-integrated module within Chevin’s FleetWave software.

Chevin will also be performing the compulsory driver licence checks on all Fleet Show visitors who wish to drive at the event.

Around three weeks prior to the show, registered visitors will be sent a link to the Government’s driving licence information sharing portal – this allows you to generate a special code. Simply print this code and bring it with you (along with your driving licence) and you will be fast-tracked through registration on the day, giving you more time to get out on track.

Visitors who do not generate the code will still be able to drive, but their registration process will take longer as Chevin will have to check the licence with the DVLA.

Meet the industry’s biggest suppliers, drive the latest cars and vans, network and attend a packed seminar session at the Fleet Show, held at Silverstone. Secure your place by registering at www.thefleetshow.co.uk.
