Diesel Focus ST targets user-choosers in key UK market
The UK is a key market for the hot hatch, with 43,600 of the 140,000 sold globally since 2002 sold to British customers. Adding a diesel engine enables Ford to target user-choosers more effectively with the refreshed model, which is significantly cheaper than the Golf GTD and more fuel efficient than the Astra BiTurbo.
Pricing for the hatchback starts at £22,195, while the entry-level ST estate starts at £23,295. Helped by an automatic stop-start system, the 2.0 TDCi offers combined fuel economy of 67.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 110g/km, while the same technology cuts 10g/km CO2 from the petrol model, which emits 159g/km.
It takes the Focus ST range to 12 versions, with the familiar ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 trim levels retained, available as a hatchback or estate and with a choice of 247bhp 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol or 183bhp 2.0-litre diesel.
