DfT to explore safety implications of driverless cars at Brake event

Brake has announced the agenda for its 2018 Fleet Safety Conference, which will see experts including from the Department for Transport speak on key road safety issues.

The Brake conference will include a talk from the DfT on the implications of driverless vehicles.

Taking place on 25 May 2018 at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, the event is focused on the theme of ‘Facing the future – are you ready?’.

Speakers include from the DfT, which will explore the implications of autonomous vehicles along with in-depth collision investigation and the RAIDS database, while TRL will speak on the latest developments in vehicle technology and standards. And Lisa Dorn, associate professor, Cranfield University, will talk on mental health and driver attitudes.

In the afternoon, breakout sessions will cover topical issues including routing and journey planning, electric vehicles, managing young drivers, trucks – new vehicle standards, vans – the future of delivery and recruitment and driver training.
