Detroit News: Lexus announces sub-100g/km IS hybrid

By / 11 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Heavily influenced by the LF-CC concept car shown at last year’s Paris Motor Show, Lexus says the new car is targeted at offering best-in-class driving dynamics, while the 70mm longer wheelbase improves cabin space compared to its predecessor. Two drivetrains will be offered, comprising a 2.5-litre petrol and hybrid, both available with the F Sport styling package.

Fuel efficiency figures for the IS 250h, the first ever hybrid in the IS model line-up, hasn’t been announced yet but at under 100g/km CO2 emissions the car should return around 70mpg. The combination of 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and electric drive also offers a combined 217bhp.

This same drivetrain could also be rolled out across other models. Lexus has previously hinted at a lower-emitting hybridversion of the larger GS saloon, this could share its engine with the IS.

Pricing will be announced closer to the car's launch this summer.
