Cupra Formentor sets benchmark for performance plug-in hybrid SUVs

By / 4 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Cupra, the fledgling performance arm of SEAT, has revealed its first standalone model, the Formentor – alongside the new SEAT and Cupra Leon.

The fifth electrified model in the SEAT/Cupra lineup is the production version of the Cupra Formentor – Cupra’s first dedicated model and a plug-in hybrid. The new car offers 245hp and an electric-only range of around 30 miles and will be available from Q4 this year. The car is the new standard bearer for the Cupra brand, which sold 25,000 units last year and has ambitions to double its volume this year.

SEAT and Cupra plan to introduce 6 new electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles up to 2021,  of which four had already been revealed prior to the Formentor’s unveiling: SEAT Mii Electric; SEAT and Cupra Leon plug-in hybrids; and the Tarraco plug-in hybrid.
