Citroën unveils new C5 X flagship

New range-topper combines the elegance and comfort of a saloon, with the space and versatility of an estate.

The new C5 X

The new C5 X will be launched in the UK later this year

Assertive, robust and distinctive, is how Citroën describe their new flagship model. However, the sleek fastback design, with the long bonnet, high waistline and distinctive ‘kick’ above the rear wheels, shout new C4 – although much bigger.

Like the C4, the C5 X also offers increased ground clearance, with Citroën claiming this new model delivers an SUV-like driving position, offering greater visibility and safety.

Inside, the C5 X has lounge-like interior space, with highlights including the Advanced Comfort seats. There is also plenty of tech including the Extended Head Up Display, 12-inch touchscreen, plus a range of driving assistance features. There’s also the practicality of a 545 litre boot – rivalling the space of a traditional estate car.

Like the new C4 and C5 Aircross before it, the C5 X’s emphasis is on comfort, using the proven Advanced comfort suspension system and the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions. Choose a plug-in hybrid version, and the comfort level is moved on to the next level with Advanced Comfort Active suspension, offering three different modes.

Plug-in hybrid and petrol versions of the C5 X will be available at launch. Choose the plug-in and this 225hp drivetrain offers an electric range up to 31 miles.

The new C5 X will be launched in the UK later this year, with prices and specification revealed closer to that time.
