Citroën targets fleets with ë-Berlingo electric MPV

Citroën is introducing a fully electric version of its Berlingo MPV, bringing five- or seven-seat practicality and a range up to 174 miles.

The ë-Berlingo MPV follows in the footsteps of the recently revealed ë-Berlingo van and is powered by the same powertrain, giving it a WLTP-rated range of 174 miles

Part of the brand’s plans to provide electrified variants across each model in the range by 2025, the ë-Berlingo MPV follows in the footsteps of the recently revealed ë-Berlingo van and is also sister model to the recently revealed Peugeot e-Rifter and Vauxhall Combo-e Life. It’s powered by the same powertrain, using a 136hp electric motor connected up to a 50kWh battery pack. It also gets three drive modes to prioritise power or range as needed.

Aimed at both business users and families, the ë-Berlingo comes as standard with a 7.4kW single-phase on-board charger and an optional 11kW three-phase charger. A full charge from a 7kW wallbox takes 7.5 hours, or five hours using a 22kW unit using three-phase power. It also supports up to 100kW DC fast charging, giving an 80% charge in 30 minutes, and can also programmed for deferred charging, via the vehicle touchscreen on selected versions or the MyCitroën app. Battery warranty stands at eight years or 100,000 miles (for 70% of battery capacity).

Equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, with a 10-inch high-definition digital instrument panel also available, depending on the version. Also available, again trim-dependent, are keyless entry and start, colour head-up display, hill-start assist, a reversing camera with top rear vision, intelligent beam headlights, electric parking brake, cruise control and speed limiter and park assist.

Driver assistance technologies on offer include Active Safety Brake, an active lane departure warning system, driver attention alert, distance alert, Coffee Break Alert, Grip Control with Hill Descent Assist, extended traffic sign recognition and recommendation, and a blind spot monitoring system.

The ë-Berlingo is also available with three connected packages, covering assistance & SOS, navigation services and multimedia content.

The Citroën ë-Berlingo will arrive in UK showrooms in Q4 2021. Prices are yet to be announced.
