Citroen adds WiFi option to key models

Citroen’s new WiFi On Board system uses an installed WiFi box, which houses a 3G or 3G+ SIM card – which can be purchased from any mobile internet provider – to create a wireless network within the vehicle, allowing multiple WiFi devices such as laptops, smart phones and portable games consoles to simultaneously check e-mails, play games, tweet and surf the internet.

As well as offering benefits for passengers looking to use internet access during journeys and to make more effective use of their time in the car, the new technology is of particular benefit to fleet and business drivers, who can also access the internet when the car is parked safely.

Citroen WiFi On Board is available from £545, including installation and VAT at 17.5% (excludes the cost of the 3G/3G+ SIM card and internet access charges). Citroen also adds that the system is installed with roaming disabled as the default setting to avoid expensive data costs when travelling abroad.

The optional WiFi On Board system will be made available in other car and LCV models before the end of 2010.
