Chrysler brand exits from Continental Europe
As of 1 June, the Lancia badge is being used to head up the Lancia-Chrysler network, covering over 600 dealers, apart from the UK and Ireland where the Chrysler brand is being used.
'We couldn’t maintain the two brands everywhere so we had to decide,' said Olivier Francois, the brand head of Lancia and Chrysler. 'Lancia has a higher awareness in Europe, while for the US and the rest of the World, Chrysler is a more global brand.'
The move means the end of the Chrysler brand in Continental Europe after some 40 years.
The first model to be launched under the new distribution network will be the Lancia/Chrysler Ypsilon, which goes on sale from this month.
