Once operational, Cazoo aims to make buying a used car online no different to other retail products, allowing customers to choose from thousands of vehicles and have them delivered to their door in as little as 48 hours. The company is forming partnerships to facilitate its ambitions, which will likely include the sale of used fleet vehicles, and it has already partnered with BCA to provide vehicle logistics, refurbishment and disposal requirements ahead of the firm’s launch later this year.

Commenting on the latest appointments, Alex Chesterman founder & CEO of Cazoo said, “These latest hires each bring with them deep retail and digital experience and proven track records in their respective fields. We have now assembled a world class senior management team alongside a total team of over 80 who are entirely focused on delivering the UK’s best used car buying experience.”

Katherine Hurst joins Cazoo as customer experience director from Paddy Power Betfair. Hurst will be responsible for CRM, customer operations and experience. Lucas Bergmans joins Cazoo as brand director from Aviva where he was head of brand, responsible for relaunching the brand in the UK. Bergmans will be responsible for brand strategy, advertising and content. Ercan Kamil joins Cazoo as digital marketing director from MoneySuperMarket. Hurst, Bergmans and Kamil will all report to Cazoo’s chief customer officer, Darren Bentley.

Other hires include Louis Badcock, who joins Cazoo as product director from Simply Business and will be responsible for delivering the online customer experience. Ian Kershaw joins Cazoo as engineering director from Photobox Group, while Joe Meehan joins Cazoo as head of data analytics from Graze, and will be responsible for leading the data science and optimisation programmes at Cazoo. Dan Read joins Cazoo as head of finance from Zoopla and will be responsible for the company’s treasury, reporting and forecasting activities and managing the day-to-day finance operations.
