Carbon offset service eyes new car market

A new service has launched in the UK to enable used car buyers to offset their carbon emissions – with plans to expand into new cars, including through finance companies.

Motor Depot and CarSupermarket.com are working with the iOffset service to offset the projected future emissions of every used car sold for the first year or 10,000 miles of ownership

The iOffset service has initially teamed up with used car retailers Motor Depot and CarSupermarket.com and will see the dealerships offset the projected future emissions of every used car sold for the first year or 10,000 miles of ownership.

However, to further help drivers on the path to net zero, the new service is looking to develop new relationships and is working on partnership with dealers in the new car sector too.

A spokesperson said iOffset is also in advanced conversations with consumer finance companies which will incorporate offsetting for both new and used cars.

Mark Hammond, founder of iOffset, added: “Hopefully this initiative will be a catalyst for many dealers and other businesses around the world to push forward more environmentally friendly operations on the journey to net zero.”
