Audi reports record profit for H1 2010
The Ingolstadt-based carmaker increased operating profit by 61.6% to 1.3 billion compared to 823 million for the first half. Revenue ws up nearly 21% to 17.6 billion from 2009's figure of 14.5 billion.
Audi attributed the results to a worldwide recovery in demand as well as its model range. For the first half of the fiscial year, deliveries rose 19.1% to a new record high of 554,939 cars. Figures were also up 7.5% on Audi's record figure in 2008.
For the full year, Audi has said it wants to increase customer deliveries to over 1.08 million vehicles this year – up by 13.7% on 2009.
'We are once again aiming for an outstanding result for 2010, with our operating return on sales reaching the same level as the first half-year,' said Axel Strotbek, member of the board for finance and organization at Audi AG.
