Audi Q5 to get 49g/km plug-in hybrid model

Audi is adding a plug-in hybrid model to the Q5 line-up to spearhead a new range of PHEV models.

Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro

Aimed at company car drivers and commuters and priced from around £55k, the new model combines a 252hp 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol with a 143hp electric motor, giving a combined output of 367hp and total torque of 500Nm.

Married up with a seven-speed S tronic and all-wheel drive quattro technology, the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro offers acceleration from 0 to 62mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 148mph. WLTP combined fuel consumption is 113mpg, with CO2 emissions of 49g/km.

The 14.1kWh lithium-ion battery is located under the luggage compartment floor and brings and an electric-only range of 26 miles. The Q5 55 TFSI e quattro also features predictive efficiency assistant (PEA)  technology, which adjusts coasting recuperation behaviour to the road conditions to maximise electric range and also supports the driver when the adaptive cruise control (ACC) is active.

The driver can also choose from three modes – EV, Battery Hold and Hybrid – to choose engine and motor set-up.

The Q5 55 TFSI e quattro is supplied as standard with an integrated charger that charges the lithium-ion battery with a maximum power of 7.4 kW, plus a Mode 3 cable with Type 2 plug for use at public charging stations. Charge management is backed up by the myAudi app, which allows customers to use the services from the Audi connect portfolio on their smartphones. The app can be used to check the battery and range status, start the charging process, program the charge timer and view the charge and consumption statistics. Furthermore, the route planners in both the app and the MMI navigation in the car show charging stations. And the app can also be used to set up preheating/precooling prior to departure.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights with High Beam Assist, 20-inch grey alloy wheels, fully electric adjustable sport seats with massage function, three-zone automatic climate control and a Technology Pack incorporating virtual cockpit, MMI Navigation High and PHEV-specific displays.

The Q5 55 TFSI e quattro opens for order in early June.
