Audi offers a soft option

The new A3, which opens for ordering later this month, will have a choice of up to three suspension set-ups (Standard, Sports and S line sports) which buyers can choose from at no extra cost.

On the S Line model, the biggest selling trim line in the fleet sector, this means drivers can have the sporty looks of the S Line but without the lowered suspension and firmer ride. Buyers of Sport trim have the choice of two suspension systems, while SE models only come with Standard suspension.

Rob Morris, A3 product manager at Audi UK, said: ‘We had feedback from drivers on the firm ride in S line trim. These people want the sporty looks but not the firm ride, so we’re offering a choice of suspension on the A3 for the first time.’@PREVIEWEND@

S Line trim will account for 40% of new A3 sales, slightly down on the current generation which includes the S Line Black editions as run-out specials.

A series of fleet-focused events will begin in early September to coincide with the car arriving in showrooms.

Morris added: ‘The A3 is a hugely important car for us in the fleet market. We’re awaiting residual value predictions – they’ll be in the June CAP Monitor but we’re hoping and expecting for them to improve on the current model, which in itself outperforms its premium rivals.’
