Arval slashes customer fleet emissions 23%

In 2013, the average CO2 for new cars registered by Arval was 117.2g/km, down from 123g/km the previous year and continuing the downward trend that Arval, and the market, has seen in recent years.

Arval attributes this reduction to a combination of the improved emissions of new vehicles entering the market, an increasing focus on environmental performance, and the advice that it provides to customers in selecting the most cost effective and efficient vehicles.

Robert Pieczka, who heads up corporate responsibility at Arval, commented: ‘With vehicle costs and CO2 emissions directly linked, the environmental performance of the fleet is often a high priority for our customers. That’s why we spend a lot of time working with them to deliver the most sustainable and cost effective fleet policy for their business.’

He added: ‘Whether it’s because of sustainable or commercial motivations, taking a sustainable approach can deliver great benefit to the business and its drivers.’

The firm added that in recent years, Arval has seen a greater desire from customers to make sustainable fleet decisions and spends a lot of time advising them on the best vehicle selection for their business. Last year the company launched its Alternative Vehicle Technology Trials so that they can review and report back to customers on the latest ultra low emissions vehicles. It also held its first technology event where customers were given the opportunity to test drive some of the newest and cleanest vehicles on the market providing practical insight into the options available to them.
