The joint end-to-end electric vehicle solution will be rolled out across Europe over the next few months, helping facilitate and accelerate the transition to e-mobility for international corporate clients, small and medium companies and private individuals.

Drawing upon ChargePoint’s portfolio of charging solutions and services in more than nine launch markets across Europe, the solution will include a seamless digital on-board experience, billing solution, installation and maintenance, 24/7 customer support and smart chargers. Home charging solutions will also be available for drivers, as well as access to a network of public places to charge around Europe, making it even easier for drivers to charge at work, home and on the go.

The venture will help reinforce the company’s current EV coverage by improving and complementing existing e-mobility partnerships, with energy suppliers in particular.

It forms part of the ALD Electric holistic approach to electric vehicles, which is made up of five key services that facilitates customer decision making and helps alleviate anxiety related to EV adoption:

  • Consultancy services dedicated to the energy transition, helping clients to identify the right vehicle for the right usage and encouraging the adoption of new forms of mobility
  • Test driving services with electrically-chargeable vehicles
  • Smart charging infrastructure (home and office chargers, as well as public network access)
  • Reporting and payments with dedicated digital access for drivers and fleet managers
  • Short-term rental flexibility with ALD Switch, a non-EV exchange service for longer journeys

“This partnership agreement with ChargePoint fully supports our sustainable growth strategy to work with industry leading partners in order to broaden the company’s offering and electrify mobility,” said Tim Albertsen, deputy CEO at ALD. “It is not just about replacing a diesel with an electric vehicle, it is about trying to invent new or enhance existing services to facilitate the change and we believe that this agreement, and the ALD Electric approach as a whole, will play an important role in accelerating the energy transition.”

“ChargePoint is eager to partner with ALD Automotive, a leader in the mobility solutions space, to increase access to essential EV charging for drivers and businesses throughout Europe,” said Christopher Burghardt, managing director for ChargePoint in Europe. “The industry has spoken, and the shift to transportation electrification is well underway. Fleet operators and drivers alike are moving with increasing urgency to cleaner electric modes of transport and it’s incumbent on companies like ChargePoint, in collaboration with other ecosystem partners, to enable a more seamless and efficient way of moving people and goods. ChargePoint is dedicated to working with leaders, like ALD Automotive, across the transportation category and beyond to help pave the way to a more sustainable transportation future, and this partnership represents another important milestone in that commitment.”
