Airmax Remote partnership brings ISA retrofit solution to fleets
Fleets in Europe and North America can now access a new Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) style solution available for aftermarket retrofit to most vehicles.
ISA technology will become mandatory for all motor vehicles sold in the EU from around mid-2022 onwards as part of a package of vehicle safety standards newly approved by Member States. According to the European Transport Safety Council, a 2014 Norwegian study found the technology to be the ‘most effective’ in saving lives.
However, a partnership between Airmax Remote and Sturdy Corporation will make intelligent speed assistance (ISA) available for fleets sooner in the form of GPS-based, variable top speed limiting.
This new ISA product offering, known as VMS with SpeedIQ, has been created by the two firms, drawing on Sturdy’s experience in automobile safety systems centred on vehicle speed management and Airmax Remote’s background in vehicle tracking, telematics and connected car services.
Sturdy Automotive product group manager Chip Vogt said: “Previously, providers of telematic services and suppliers of speed limiting hardware rarely interacted if ever. Today we stand to offer something new and innovative that changes this landscape permanently. The integration of Sturdy speed-limiting hardware with Airmax Remote connectivity will allow ISA in the form of GPS-based variable top speed limiting.”
Airmax Remote managing director Richard Perham added: “Our technology delivers complete accuracy and definitive reporting to identify savings such as fuel for fleet operators and we will be working with customers to provide insight by accurately monitoring existing fuel usage resulting from analysis of mapping, distances travelled and reasons for the journey. In addition, by monitoring driver behaviour, Airmax Remote technology delivers improved driver safety, fleet utilisation and visibility to end user customer thereby a potential reduction in on-the-road incidents for organisations operating fleets of vehicles.”
