AGL asks for fleet support with Gumball charity fundraiser
AGL is calling on the corporate fleet and insurance sectors to help with its plans to raise a six-figure sum for charities – including the NHS and Brake – with the 2021 Gumball Charity Revival.
The business, which specialises in technology-led accident management services, says it’s continued to provide clients with support during the lockdown, including food delivery drivers, utility workers and NHS workers, while also still operating its Activate Accident Repair centres in Birmingham and Glasgow.
As part of its transition plan in preparation for the potential easing of restrictions around Covid-19, it’s looking to raise tens of thousands of pounds in the Gumball Charity Revival, benefiting three special charities; Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, Brake and the NHS.
The event – which is targeted to take place on 16-18 April 2021 – will see around 50 cars of all shapes and sizes taking part in a three-day driving event across Ireland. Teams will be challenged to come up with a creative car design that celebrates the colours of the Irish flag, with a prize for the best-decorated car.
Mark Wilcox, chairman of AGL and one of the founding members of the event, said: “It is early days yet, but we feel it is important to have something to work towards that will bring us together in raising much-needed funds for three amazing charities.”
Health and safety will be of paramount importance; the plan is to adapt the event to meet any guidelines that remain in place for Covid-19, while there will be two safety support vehicles following the drivers and road safety guidance provided by Brake.
Participants will be invited to express their interest in taking part in the event in the next few weeks.
Wilcox concluded: “We’re announcing our intention to hold this event now because we feel it’s even more important than ever before to find ways to give back, challenge ourselves and come together.
“We’re asking the insurance and corporate fleet industries to stand with us and express their interest in taking part and together we can look forward to raising significant sums for these important charities in a safe way and at the right time.”
