Adapted Vehicle Hire (AVH) celebrates record figures in 2011

By / 12 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The business which supplies vehicles to the general public and through the Government’s Motability scheme has increased rental deliveries by 35% between 2010 and 2011.

As a result of a programme of rapid expansion over the past 12 months, the business has doubled the number of branches across the UK from three to six and opened a new head office site at Stone Close in West Drayton, Middlesex.

AVH has a fleet of almost 300 vehicles ranging in size from adapted Nissan Micras to 4×4 and as well as renting vehicles, the business also carries out all adaptations in its purpose built workshop at the head office site.

According to managing director, Lorraine Farnon, the upward trend is set to continue in 2012. She said: 'The past year has seen AVH grow at a tremendous rate and we have seen a 35 per cent increase in deliveries in January this year which is very encouraging. The rapid growth is the result of new products and services that we have introduced and as a result of our very high levels of customer satisfaction.

'However there is still a lack of awareness about specialised rental hire and we are working hard to let people know that the short term rental of adapted vehicles is a realistic option. We know that lack of mobility is a real issue within the disabled community and that being able to get on with day to day activities whether travelling to work or to visit friends and relatives, can have a really positive impact on people’s lives.'

AVH was acquired by Nexus Vehicle Management in 2011 when Lorraine was appointed as managing director. Lorraine has 20 years experience working with seveal prominent names in the rental industry. The company fills a gap in the market by providing a specialised rental service that traditional rental companies do not offer.

The company rents both specially adapted vehicles with a range of bespoke features including hand controls such as single lever push/pull, left foot accelerators and easy-release handbrakes and many more, plus a full range of wheelchair accessible vehicles.
