Priced at £21,375 on the road, with business rental from £179 based on an initial payment of £1,074, the One D is the first Clubman to feature the 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine used in smaller MINI models and the BMW 116d, which produces 115bhp.

This brings range-lowest CO2 emissions down to 99g/km with fuel consumption of 74.3mpg, compared to 68.9mpg and 109g/km for the 148bhp Cooper D, as well as a £1,010 reduction in price. A six-speed manual version is also available, priced from £22,870, which returns 72.4mpg and emits 104g/km CO2.

Standard equipment includes satellite navigation, DAB, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and the MINI Connected (online services) and MINI Excitement (extended lighting) packs. Around half of UK customers are expected to add the £2,785 Chili pack, which includes half-leather sports seats, keyless entry and start, parking sensors, climate control, and LED headlights and foglights.

Available to order now, it arrives following a 44% increase in corporate sales during 2015, to 8,450 vehicles, said to have been helped by the five-door hatch and the rest of the Clubman range, and supported by a dedicated corporate sales contact centre and dealership staff. First deliveries are due in April.
