Priced from £13,995, the facelifted model brings a new front and rear profile including chrome detailing and a lower black aerodynamically styled bumper and shaped tailpipe.

The interior also been refreshed and brings a new instrument cluster and the use of the electronic handbrake, bringing more room between the driver and front passenger seats.

Engine line-up sees improvements to the 148bhp DTi-TECH engine, which now brings 119g/km of CO2 – down 10g/km – and 61.4mpg on the official combined cycle. It is also 0.5 seconds quicker on the sprint from 0 to 60mph, now taking 8.4 seconds. Details of the 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine have not been announced.

Three new trim levels of the new MG6 are offered – S, TS and TL – and offer higher levels of equipment. Entry-level models bring heated front seats as standard along with 16-inch alloy wheels and a new electronic differential, called E-Diff, which works in conjunction with the stability control system.

The mid-level TS adds part man-made leather seats, rear parking sensors, automatic lights, windscreen wipers, cruise control and auto dimming mirrors.

The TS trim also debuts the new MG touch infotainment system, which has been developed in collaboration with leading supplier of aftermarket systems, NNG iGo.  The system includes a 7-inch touchscreen with app-based operation, FM/AM tuner with RDS and DAB radio, CD player, Bluetooth with Bluetooth streaming and Mirrorlink v1.1. It also includes the new NNG iGo Navigation app-based navigation system with European mapping, 3D landmarks and reality junction view.

The TL tops the range with leather seats, HID (high-intensity discharge) headlights with a speed-sensitive cornering function that operates from speeds up to 25mph. It also features a rear camera, dual zone climate control and electric seats.
