Wilsons Auctions Portadown celebrates 75th birthday

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The event will be attended by guests from all over the UK and Ireland personally invited by Wilsons Auctions Portadown's general manager, Edmund Madine.

Mr Madine says that the Anniversary Fleet Auction Special is something of a milestone: 'We have been running this auction fortnightly in Portadown for over 10 years now and it has been going from strength to strength with the Portadown branch running now for 25 years. Wilsons Auctions has been in business for 75 years and our founder comes from the local area, so it is fitting to be celebrating our 75th anniversary here.

'I personally have worked with the Wilsons family since I was at school and have been part of the business as it grew into the UK and Ireland's largest independent auction house. Celebrating their 75th anniversary is something very special to me.'

Invites for the Anniversary Fleet Auction Special have been extended to motor traders throughout the Wilsons Auction network and fleet vendors including Lex Autolease, Blackhorse Finance, Peugeot, RCI, Motability, Inchcape, Hitachi capital and Honda have all committed product to the Anniversary Auction.

Mr Madine said: 'We usually get motor traders from all over Ireland coming to us because of the calibre of vehicle we offer and after sales support we provide. Our fleet vendors are really supporting us and we anticipate a record number of entries and a record attendance – their support is testament to the relationship we have with our customers, in many cases the relationships are over 20 years old.'

The Anniversary Fleet Auction Special will be attended by Ian Wilson, managing director of Wilsons Auctions and other members of the Wilsons family, and will feature spot prizes, giveaways, a complimentary buffet and of course the car auctions.

'Motor traders love a bargain,' concluded Mr Madine. 'That is one thing that hasn't changed in 75 years.'
