Volkswagen Group announces sales and marketing reorg

The new structure will be gradually phased in, starting from 1 June 2010.

The changes include the appointment of Jonathan Browning, who assumes responsibility for the global directing of the Volkswagen Group’s National Sales Companies (NSC). Mr Browning held executive posts at several brands in the GM Group, most recently as vice president global sales, service and marketing at GM.

Christian Klingler, VW Group board member for sales and marketing, commented: 'Directing our sales companies is becoming enormously important in the light of internationalization and market dynamics. It is therefore a central pillar in the realignment of our group sales and marketing organization. The Volkswagen Group has recruited an excellent sales and marketing expert in Jonathan Browning, who will bring outstanding international experience to directing the National Sales Companies.'

In addition, Luca de Meo, currently executive director marketing product and communication at Volkswagen Passenger Cars, will additionally assume responsibility for group marketing.Fred Kappler takes charge of Global Service Coordination and continues in his function as head of genuine parts sales. Holger B Santel retains responsibility for Group Sales Coordination.

Finally, Own Retail operations are taken over by Peter Maiwald and Henri Strübing in addition to their managing director functions at Volkswagen Retail GmbH.
