The updated versions feature a closed grille similar to the Model X SUV and compact executive Model 3, instead of the oval-shaped blank it had before, while the headlights feature scrolling indicators.

There are improvements to the range for most models. The entry-level 70kWh battery now offers a range of 282 miles to a charge, or 292 miles with the dual-motor setup, compared to 260 and 275 miles in the old car. Increases are smaller for the 90D, which now offers 346 miles instead of 340 to a full charge, while the P90D is unchanged.

New technology includes an air filtration system for the cabin, which almost eliminates harmful exhaust emissions, allergens, bacteria and contaminants, and a subzero weather package with four heated seats and defrosting elements for the windscreen wipers and screenwash nozzles. There is also an option to upgrade the 11kW on-board charger to a 16.5kW charger, increasing charging rates by around 50%.

The updated Tesla Model S is available to order now.
