Toyota launches five-year / 100,000 mile warranty

By / 14 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Fleet boss Mark Roden admits the recall problems of the last few months informed the firm's thinking.

He said: 'Obviously it is partially in response to the recall, and it underlines our confidence in our reliability.

'For the fleet market we believe it will prove very useful; for those extending contracts it offers peace-of-mind motoring, while for those selling at, say, three years / 60,000 miles, that's still two more years and 40,000 miles motoring covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

'We believe it will have a positive effect on residual values and we've been talking to the likes of CAP and Glass's about it.

'With SMR costs, it will drive costs down and can only have a positive effect too.

'We've put our money where our mouth is, and are the only mainstream player to offer a five-year warranty. It's something we've talked about on and off for a long time, but I think recent events have focused the mind, and the timing is right for it. We don't expect to see an instant surge in sales off the back of it, but it reinforces our values, and shows we are evolving as a brand.'
