RoSPA and Journey Dynamics collaborate on eco-driving tool

The collaboration is bringing together the MyDrive software from Journey Dynamics, a Guildford-based provider of driver analysis and traffic forecasting, with RoSPA’s road safety expertise.

Intended to provide a simple joined-up driver analysis solution, the new tool comprises in-vehicle technology plus the MyDrive analysis and reporting software.

Requiring no access to the vehicle’s CAN bus (internal communication technology), MyDrive uses GPS data to provide a highly detailed profile of a driver’s driving style. Drawing on RoSPA’s understanding of safe driving characteristics, Journey Dynamics is able to deliver a unique set of both safety- and eco-related driver scores within MyDrive, benefiting companies, fleet managers and individual drivers.

Errol Taylor, deputy chief executive of RoSPA, said: 'The Journey Dynamics technology is a cost-effective solution that gives rapid feedback to both drivers and fleet managers on driving style, helping them recognise areas where they can improve. It also helps fleet managers and employers establish the payback from investing in their occupational road risk programme. The technology is being rigorously tested – a process that is now reaching completion – and it will soon be available for UK vehicle fleets.'

More details about how the new technology can be incorporated into a firm’s MORR system will be revealed over the coming months.
