Prices and specs revealed for new Hyundai i30

Hyundai has announced details of its new i30 hatch, which will introduce new engine variants when it goes on sale on 1 March.

New i30 hatch goes on sale on 1 March, priced at £16,995.

Priced from £16,995, the third-generation five-door hatch is the first in a family of models and will be joined later by the i30 Wagon, which debuts at Geneva,  plus an i30 ‘N’ hot hatch version towards the end of the year. In 2018 a ‘Fastback’ coupe version will replace the previous three-door hatch.

Longer, lower and wider than the outgoing model, the hatch will be offered in S, SE, SE Nav, Premium and Premium SE trims. Engine line-up at launch brings a choice of one diesel a 108bhp 1.6-litre and two petrols covering a new-to-the-range 118bhp 1.0-litre and a brand-new 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged unit.

Depending on the trim level, engines are available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission. CO2 emissions start from 99g/km for the 108bhp diesel in manual form (109g/km with the DCT) with official combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg (68.9mpg for the DCT version).

The new i30 will bring extra standard kit compared to the old model, with Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Hill Start Assist Control all available as standard.

The entry-level model is only available with the 1.0-litre petrol in manual form and brings 15-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, DAB radio with USB and aux connections, Bluetooth with steering wheel controls, electric front and rear windows and driver seat height adjustment.

From £18,695, the i30 SE 1.0 T-GDi 118bhp Manual adds in 16-inch alloys, front fog lamps, DAB radio with 5-inch LCD touchscreen, rear parking assist system, rear view camera and leather steering wheel. This trim is also available with the 108bhp 1.6 CRDi with six-speed manual transmission.

Available from £19,645, the i30 SE Nav 1.0 T-GDi 118bhp Manual brings integrated satellite navigation with 8-inch LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth with voice recognition and wireless phone charging. It also introduces the new 138bhp 1.4 T-GDi  engine, available with a six-speed manual, or seven-speed DCT transmission. The diesel engine is also available, with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission.

Premium trim starts at £22,195 for the 1.4 T-GDi 138bhp Manual and includes 17-inch alloy wheels with uprated Michelin tyres, dual zone climate control, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, privacy glass and heated front seats with artificial leather/cloth seat facings. Inside, there’s an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a supervision instrument cluster with 4.2-inch display and it also brings driver assistance systems including front and rear parking assist system and blind spot detection system with rear cross traffic alert and LED front headlights and rear combination lights.

The range-topping Premium SE starts at £23,495 for the 1.4 T-GDi 138bhp Manual, and brings panoramic sunroof, leather seat facings and a heated steering wheel.

Both the Premium trim and Premium SE trims are also offered with the 1.4 T-GDi with a seven-speed DCT transmission and the diesel engine with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT.
