PARIS PREVIEW: Citroen DS4 to put in appearance

By / 14 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Like the DS3, the new model, which combines coupé style with 2+2 door practicality, will focus on bold styling and agile handling.

From a design point of view, the model will offer the DS signature on the bonnet along with striking LED lights and an eye-catching profile. The interior delivers a large panoramic windscreen, a driver-focused cockpit and a premium approach to materials, with chrome detailing, aluminium pedals, embossed leather door handles and ambient lighting.

Citroen promises that that DS4 will be tuned for dynamic performance and the model is fitted with a MacPherson type suspension assembly at the front, a flexible transverse beam at the rear and hydraulic steering with an electric pump unit. 'We really wanted drivers to feel like they have the road at the tips of their fingers,' said Jérémie Maestracci, DS4's project manager.

The DS4 will be offered with a choice of five refined and Euro 5 efficient engines – two HDi diesels and three petrol powerplants, including a new-to-Citroen 200bhp petrol unit. This THP 200 engine – based on the existing 1.6-litre unit – delivers flexible power delivery and performance with low CO2 emissions of just 149g/km. All engines are available with manual or EGS six-speed gearboxes.

The DS4 can also be specified with Citroen's micro-hybrid e-HDi technology, which is available from launch on versions powered by the HDi 110 engine.

Citroen has designed the model to deliver a spacious and luxuriously comfortable cabin. The DS4 offers three full-sized rear seats, accessed by rear doors with hidden handles, as well as a capacious 370-litre boot and a host of clever storage solutions.

There's a number of clever "Créative Technologie" features too, including an advanced audio system with processing software for effective soundscaping. Drivers can also select their own on-board ambience from four ranges of polyphonic sounds for alerts and reminders, select from three air-conditioning flow levels and choose from an array of colours for the instrument panel. For ultimate driving luxury, massaging front seats are available with electric lumbar adjustment in the front passenger's and driver's seat backs.

The DS4 is expected to go on sale in 2011.
