Over two thirds of employees claim expenses on personal fuel use

By / 12 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Fuel prices are now at an all time high, and the main reasons cited by respondents were the rising fuel costs – and the fact that employers lacked a way of effectively monitoring correct usage.

One way of tackling this issue is through the use of tracking devices, increasingly being used by company vehicle fleets to monitor mileage. Launched earlier this year, Bubble Tracker has developed a portable tracking device which can be placed in an employee’s vehicle and uses GPS signals to track the location. The historic data feature allows employers to keep track of mileage usage.@PREVIEWEND@ They can also set up a zone which will send out an alert if the vehicle leaves the area, notifying them if an employee goes off route whilst at work.

'Whilst many employees may not necessarily believe that what they are doing is wrong, they are in fact committing fraud and the employer that is left with a large bill. With the cost of fuel petrol rising by over 50% since 2006, it’s a financial drain that that hard pressed companies could do without,' commented Jamie Ellwood, managing director of Bubble Tracker. 'Our GPS tracker allows both employees and employers to calculate the correct mileage so that running costs can be correctly monitored and analysed. In addition, because it is portable, it can easily be transferred between vehicles,' he added.

The Bubble Tracker is priced at £99.95 (inc. VAT) or 28p / day to operate.
