Suzuki’s new Ignis mini crossover is go on sale in the UK next month, following its debut at the Paris Motor Show.

New Suzuki Ignis

UK sales of more than 6,000 units are planned for the Ignis in 2017, with 35,000 for Europe.

The new model revives the Ignis name and is built on Suzuki’s new-generation platform, also used to underpin the Baleno hatch.

The new model brings luggage space of 267 litres (204 litres for the Allgrip model) and sliding rear seat functionality on higher-spec models.

Three grades will be available – SZ3, SZ-T and SZ5. Standard equipment on the SZ3 includes six airbags, air con, DAB, Bluetooth and five-seat layout while the SZ-T adds sat nav, rear view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, wheel arch extensions and switches the rear to four-seat layout with individually sliding seats.

The SZ5 also gains auto air con, LED headlights with LED DRL, Dual Camera Brake Support and cruise control.

Just one engine is available: an 89bhp 1.2-litre four cylinder Dualjet engine with CO2 emissions of 104g/km and combined fuel consumption of 61.4mpg. This unit will also be offered with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Vehicle mild hybrid system – which uses an Integrated Starter Generator to assist the engine during start-up and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking. This model brings CO2 emissions of 97g/km and combined fuel consumption of 65.7mpg. The SZ5 is also available with Allgrip four-wheel drive with emissions of 106g/km.

In the UK, Suzuki is planning for sales more than 6,000 units in 2017.

Prices start from £9,999 for SZ3, £11,499 for the SZ-T and £12,999 for SZ5 with two-wheel drive, rising to £13,999 for the Allgrip model.
