The tyre manufacturer has outsourced the management of its 340-strong fleet to Fleet Support Group following a competitive tender, with Mr Stack having been instrumental in the decision-making process alongside the organisation’s procurement team.

Under the deal, FSG is supplying a range of vehicle-related services, including its occupational road risk management system, which will be rolled out to about 540 drivers, as well as Fleet management (FleetMaster), maintenance management (ServiceMaster), accident management (CrashMaster) and short-term vehicle hire (HireMaster).

In addition FSG will provide a dedicated account manager and 24×7 driver helpdesk. Mr Stack will also stay on as a part-time consultant to Michelin as FSG continues the implementation phase of the complete outsourced service.

Mr Stack, who has been managing the Michelin fleet for many years, said: 'The decision is in line with Michelin’s policy to outsource all non-core business activity to expert providers.

'I was aware of FSG and its first-class reputation for cost-effective and industry-leading service delivery. The company came out on top in the tender exercise, which saw a number of organisations short-listed.'

FSG sales director Marcus Bray said: 'I believe we can bring added value to the Michelin fleet and further enhance the service that drivers have received for many years from John Stack.'
