The global deal ensures that any of the delivery giants' business units can purchase Lysanda's Eco-Log product at an agreed price and terms. The financial terms of the deal have not disclosed.

Already, TNT Express in Benelux has signed an initial order for 175 Eco-Logs, which will be fitted to its fleet of Mercedes Sprinter vans.

For customers, the return on investment (ROI) is claimed to be less than one year.

Lysanda chief executive Alex Willard said: 'This partnership with TNT, a leading international delivery provider, is an important milestone for our business. Efficient vehicle monitoring is a priority for the commercial road fleet market and we are confident that our Eco-Log product will help TNT to significantly reduce its costs and emissions whilst better managing its fleet.'

Ben Klaassen, managing director of TNT's Express Road Networks, added: 'We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Lysanda. The Eco-Log is an innovative and unique product and the software will enable us to carefully monitor our vehicles, providing an accurate measurement tool for fuel usage and carbon emissions. We believe that the fuel and carbon savings delivered by Eco-Log will help us in our commitment to drive down our carbon emissions.'

TNT hopes that installing telematics will significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Carin ten Hage, director of TNT's Planet Me Programme, said: 'We are always looking for new ways to achieve our ambition of becoming the world's first zero-emission transport company. By installing Eco-Log into our fleet vehicles we should significantly reduce our carbon emissions by improving the CO2 efficiency of our core business activities.'
