LPG car users urged to join 40,000-strong UKLPG Vehicle Register

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Introduced in conjunction with the insurance industry and with the support of the Department for Transport, the Vehicle Register is an industry initiative to provide an easy and secure means to verify that a conversion to LPG autogas has been undertaken in a safe and satisfactory manner.

Only UKLPG Approved Autogas Installers can add vehicles to the Register. For new installations by approved installers being added to the register is now part of the conversion process. However there is also an opportunity for existing converted vehicles to be added.

If a vehicle was previously converted by an LPGA Approved Installer the user can send the embossed green A5 certificate to UKLPG who will add the vehicle for free. Alternatively if you do not have a certificate the vehicle can be taken to any UKLPG Approved Autogas Installer and they are authorised to inspect any vehicle already converted and if found satisfactory to add that vehicle to the register.

Mike Chapman, Autogas manager for UKLPG, said: 'This initiative means that any LPG vehicle, irrespective of who converted it, can be registered. We would encourage all LPG drivers to get their vehicles registered to ensure their conversion is safe and efficient. This service is also making it easier when getting car insurance as insurance companies are increasingly checking the Vehicle Register as do consumers who are looking to purchase a vehicle already converted to run on LPG.'
