Highways Agency outsources patrol fleet to VT Group

By / 14 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Under the four-year contract, VT is managing the procurement, full maintenance and support requirement for the specialist patrol, resilience and team manager vehicles, which are based at 40 locations throughout England.

The fleet of 4×4 vehicles will be managed from a central location in London and will involve VT utilising an accredited dealer network throughout the country to carry out repairs and maintenance of the Land Rover, Mitsubishi and Toyota vehicles.

The agreement will see VT use a number of its own mobile maintenance units to respond to defects and running repairs, besides managing a series of suppliers for specialist repairs. The hub of the operation will be a round-the-clock, dedicated HA call centre, manned by VT personnel, who will deal with all maintenance, repair and accident enquiries.

Alan Rowley, from the Highways Agency's National Vehicles Team, said: 'Since the award of the contract in December 2009, VT has put maximum effort into collating our requirements and producing systems and processes that will give us a service that is second to none. The transition has gone extremely smoothly and things have got off to an excellent start.'

The work expands VT's fleet management work for blue light customers, which already include the Metropolitan Police, where VT maintains some 3,750 vehicles, and the New Dimension fleet of emergency response vehicles operated by fire and rescue services throughout England and Wales.
