Grupo Leche Pascual drives down emissions with new Toyota fleet

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

In collaboration with Toyota Spain, the firm is to roll out 500 Auris HSD and 30 Prius models across its food transportation fleet.

This initiative forms part of Leche Pascual's commitment to sustainable transportation in Madrid. Today, 13% of its delivery fleet runs on alternative energy. As of February, the vehicles will also be used in neighbouring municipalities and eventually at all of the company's branches.

The first delivery of 41 Toyota Auris HSD were handed over this week in the presence of Madrid's Mayor, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón.

In his speech, the Mayor expressed his appreciation for Leche Pascual's choice: 'Grupo Leche Pascual is an exemplary socially responsible company that contributes to its city council's sustainable mobility plan. We appreciate this green asset which is beneficial for the city.'

Tomás Pascual Gómez-Cuétara, president of Grupo Leche Pascual, said: 'Our company must ensure sustainability in business by reducing our impact on our surroundings and reducing the costs of operations with an environmental effect, and at the same time, responding to increasingly demanding consumer wishes on this subject.'

Jacques Pieraerts, vice-president of Toyota Spain, added: 'The Leche Pascual fleet will not only contribute to a drastic reduction in carbon emissions, but will also eliminate harmful emissions, such as 'particles' and 'nitrogen oxides', which is especially important particularly within an urban environment.'
