The campaign, which is being run on Friday 4 June – the day before World Environment Day – by The CarbonNeutral Company encourages firms to participate in a programme of different CO2-reducing actions to be part of a global day of awareness and take a leadership position in the business community.

Suggested actions for employees to take part in include running a car pool with a colleague for the journey to work, cycling to work, or using video conferencing instead of travelling to a business meeting. Other measures include switching off equipment such as printers or monitors when not in use.

To encourage staff to participate, the campaign could be run as a competitive initiative between departments and/or offices. Also suppliers and customers could be encouraged to join.

At the end of the campaign, once the amount of emissions that the company has saved has been calculated they will receive an email certificate to commemorate their involvement.
