Fleet achievements acknowledged by the Prince

The Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards are presented annually to a wide range of organisations that have made a real difference to road safety, either in their area or across a specific field, such as young drivers.

Balfour Beatty’s Utility Solutions division has worked closely with Fleet Support Group in recent years and via its RiskMaster programme has achieved an accident reduction of 40%.

Wincanton was rewarded for its companywide commitment to road safety across its fleet of tankers, vans and passenger cars.

There was also recognition for RoSPA’s "Young Drivers at Work" initiative, which has produced a free online toolkit with which road safety professional can deliver their own training workshops. Meanwhile Reach, a company that promotes retail brands using a young, car-based workforce, was applauded for employing telematics and online training as part of its safety programme. With the support of Essential Risk Consultancy, the company has also introduced a competence-based NVQ for staff who drive on company business.

The winning companies were announced at the ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel by Fleet World managing editor, Ross Durkin.
