European Parliament issues draft van CO2 report

By / 14 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The report has been issued by rapporteur Martin Callanan MEP who has not proposed to make changes to the Commission’s short-term target of 175g/km CO2, phased in from 2014 to 2016. However, the Commission’s longer-term 2020 target has been amended from 135g/km to 150g/km.

The report proposes that maximum excess emission penalties for those who go over the targets are reduced from €120 to €95. There are no changes proposed to the low volume producers’ derogation threshold, which stands at 22,000 vehicles in the Commission’s original text.

Finally, Mr Callanan has inserted a proposed amendment to introduce speed limiters for vans at 120kph from 2015.

The deadline for amendments to the draft report stands at 19 May, with the Committee scheduled to vote at its 28 September meeting.
