CLM selected to deliver fleet services to Crossroads Group

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Crossroads was one of the first companies to be appointed as independent Volvo distributor for Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire and the group was recently expanded by the acquisition of another Volvo distributor, Hartshorne Motor Company based in Walsall, West Midlands.

Crossroads operates a fleet of Volvo and Ford company cars for its sales and management teams. It is currently switching its combined light commercial fleet, which provides mobile services including parts, automotive glass and breakdown and recovery to fleet customers, to Nissan vehicles, including NV200, Interstar and Primastar models.

As a result of the Hartshorne acquisition, the enlarged group has in excess of 320 cars, vans and heavy good vehicles, which are overseen by an outsourced fleet management function provided by fleet consultants, Fleetworx, run by joint directors Tom Osborne and Graham Rees.

Fleetworx has introduced a number of new fleet management initiatives at Crossroads, including switching funding from contract hire to outright purchase and rationalising fleet choice lists, but it required a specialist to handle the maintenance management of the fleet, and to provide a range of ancillary fleet services.

'We went out to tender and selected CLM as the most suitable supplier. They presented us with a very attractive proposition that included their expertise in maintenance management, a high level of professional customer service and their online capabilities,' said Fleetworx director Tom Osborne.

'As a result, we are now able to track, monitor and manage the whole fleet more cost effectively,' he added.

To help realise this objective, CLM has set up a dedicated website within its CLM FleetActive platform, providing online real-time details of all vehicles and drivers on the fleet, as well as handling rental bookings to meet Crossroads' short-term hire needs.

All vehicle disposals are being handled through CLM's trade routes to market, while CLM also manages the reallocation of existing vehicles on the Crossroads fleet.

CLM managing director Tony Hulatt said: 'We are delighted to have been selected to provide a range of fleet services necessary to manage the diversified fleet at Crossroads more cost effectively and efficiently than was possible before.'
