Cardinus/HCML clinical intervention partnership to help fleets improve lost time productivity

According to figures published in the British Medical Journal, an employee who has had six months off work due to work-related sickness or injury has less than a 50% chance of returning to work. Work-related ill health costs the UK economy £100 billion a year.

By teaming up with independent case management company HCML, Cardinus Risk Management now offers companies proactive clinical intervention services – timely treatment from physiotherapists and physical therapists – to prevent injuries from getting worse, prevent sickness absence and help employees get back to work faster.

The programme is designed to mitigate employee risk at the earliest opportunity – when costs can be kept to an absolute minimum – and is said to be particularly useful for organisations that might have seen budget cuts and reductions to administration resources.

Keith Bushnell, CEO of HCML, said: 'Given the current tough economic climate, the introduction of this service to reduce avoidable absence and therefore improve productivity is very timely.'
