BBUS first started using GreenRoad 360 in late 2008 in conjunction with the Fleet Support Group's Riskmaster. The deployment forms part of its "Zero Harm" initiative to create a working environment with zero risk to the public, zero risk of fatality or serious injury to the workforce, and zero risk of long-term health damage.

After seeing a 60% reduction in risk and up to 10% in fuel savings at the respective BBUS depots utilising the 360 service, the firm is now deploying GreenRoad across its entire commercial fleet of LCVs and HGVs as well as a number of company cars.

'Our fuel bill was £12 million last year. So a 10% reduction using GreenRoad represents significant savings at the pump,' explained Brent Mitchell, head of support services, BBUS. 'Also, many of our clients are under pressure to show how they are reducing their carbon footprint. GreenRoad 360 helps us deliver on our commitments to our clients about occupational road risk while helping our clients meet their sustainability targets.'

GreenRoad 360 provides proactive feedback to help individuals aware of how to make their driving safer and more fuel-efficient. The service includes a small LED display in the cab to give drivers real-time feedback about their driving skills with green, amber and red lights to indicate the severity of driving manoeuvres. Drivers and fleet managers can also review more detailed analysis and insight into individual driver and fleet-wide driving behaviour through GreenRoad’s suite of online applications.
