Audi adds dual-charged 1.4 TFSI to A4 line-up

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The 1.4-litre direct injection petrol engine features a supercharger that is active from 1,500rpm along with a turbocharger that kicks in from around 3,500rpm.

Audi says that this set-up means that it has been able to use a larger turbocharger designed with optimum efficiency in mind. As a result, the car delivers official combined fuel economy of 47.9mpg with CO2 emissions of 139g/km.

It also features a 0-62mph of just 6.9 seconds, with a 141mph top speed.

The engine is married up to an S tronic seven-speed twin-clutch transmission, said to perform gear shifts in just a few hundredths of a second and featuring a tall seventh gear to further help fuel consumption.

The performance-orientated S line suspension features McPherson strut front and torsion-beam rear suspension with separate springs and dampers and taut S line settings. There's also the latest ESP stabilisation programme with electronic axle differential lock – if the system detects lack of traction during fast cornering, it briefly brakes the inside front wheel.

Features include S line exterior styling, 17-inch alloy wheels and part leather-upholstered sports seats. This is in addition to  Sport equipment such as Bluetooth functionality, Driver’s Information System and a six-speaker single CD audio system with auxiliary iPod connection linked to a 6.5-inch retractable display.

The model is available to order in the UK now priced from £20,705 OTR.
