Another salary sacrifice success for Tusker

By / 12 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Under the terms of the scheme named Flextra, CHCP CIC staff will be able to select cars with a carbon cap of up to 150g/km in return for surrendering a proportion of their salary through Tusker’s SalarySacrifice4Cars (SS4C) scheme, which has proved so popular with organisations throughout both public and private sectors.

The scheme is being provided in conjunction with NHS CPC Drive, the health service fleet management offering which provides NHS Trusts with a range of fleet management services, including cost effective car leasing, salary sacrifice cars, the management of grey fleet vehicles and expenses management, for which Tusker is the solus, preferred supplier.

The salary sacrifice scheme, which is open to staff, spouses and immediate family members, is delivered through Tusker’s SS4C automated, electronic salary sacrifice car solution, which staff find very easy to use and simple to operate through the CHCP CIC bespoke Flextra website. It also includes contingency provision for redundancy, resignation and maternity.

Jill Owen, Benefits manager at CHCP CIC, said the new scheme was part of the organisation’s commitment to provide cost and carbon-efficient travel in delivering community healthcare services in line with its corporate sustainability programme.

'We selected Tusker because of their ability to provide us with an electronic scheme which is easy for our staff to use and to identify the vehicles they are eligible for through our own bespoke website which Tusker provides for us.

'The Flextra Car Scheme, which is a voluntary scheme, has been communicated to all staff through the use of posters, flyers and a launch emailer.

'However, we are working with Tusker to develop a range of options to cover all our travel requirements   and ultimately we expect all of our essential car users, some 250 currently, to migrate to this scheme as their existing cars come up for renewal. We also expect, over time, that all our grey fleet drivers will switch to the Flextra car scheme' she said.

'As one of the first NHS provider services to spin out of the public sector into a co-owned, social enterprise and Community Interest Company, we have designed a generic staff benefits scheme that is now available to other social enterprise organisations, and are currently promoting that facility and speaking with several interested parties,' she added.

The NHS CPC Drive initiative launched early last year and provides a single platform to deliver a range of fleet services available to any of the 400-plus NHS Trusts nationally.

Head of Fleet Services Julian Clarke said: 'Since we launched CPC Drive in April last year, we have signed 16 new clients, primarily NHS Trusts, to the new service.

'Clients like the online service provision of the Tusker scheme, the net zero cost to the participating organisation,  the regularity of monthly payments and the access to public sector discounts through the national procurement framework agreements,' he said.

Tusker head of Account Management, Veronica Steele commented: 'We are delighted to add CHCP CIC to the growing numbers of both public and private sector organisations that are using our market-leading salary sacrifice car solution, SS4C.'
