"Repair not replace" policy helps ATS drive down costs for fleets

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

According to the firm, nearly one in ten national car and van fleet customers visiting an ATS Euromaster fast-fit centre with a tyre-related issue drive away with a repaired tyre, giving them a reduced bill of typically around just £8 – a 92% saving over the average price of a premium brand tyre (£96).

Peter Fairlie, group sales director at ATS Euromaster, said: 'Wherever possible we always try to carry out a safe and professional repair if a customer drives onto our forecourt with a puncture or minor tyre damage. It might sound strange for one of the country's largest tyre retailers to say, but selling more tyres is not our primary goal. Our focus is on helping fleet managers to cut their running costs and carbon footprint by maximising the longevity of every tyre.'

Across the three-month period from June to August 2010, ATS Euromaster carried out 9,334 tyre repairs on cars and vans belonging to its national fleet customers. Repairs represented 9% of all tyre-related work undertaken (including routine replacements due to wear) – saving customers an estimated £821,392 through not fitting new rubber.

Fleets visiting one of ATS Euromaster's 377 centres can choose between "while-you-wait" repairs or drop off their punctured tyre and collect it later. Alternatively, car and van owners can pre-book an appointment for a mobile service van to attend their home or place of work.
